INTRODUCTION
Welcome to the 14th PhD Student Workshop, which will be held at University of Science and Technology of China during May 6-7, 2020 in Hefei, China. The workshop aims to provide a platform for Hong Kong and Mainland students of the project teams under the Mainland Collaboration Schemes to meet and discuss their research findings and the latest advancements in their own disciplines. The Workshop also aims to advance the participants’ understanding of important issues and frontier research in their own research areas.
KEY AREAS
The Workshop will primarily focus on the following 13 key areas:
ELIGIBILITY
v Students under all CityU’s Mainland Collaboration Schemes
v PhD students of CityU and USTC who are not under the Mainland Collaboration Schemes
REGISTRATION
Interested students should complete the Registration Form and send it to the Workshop Secretariat (fjun@ustc.edu.cn) on or before February 28, 2020 for registration.
WORKSHOP FORMAT AND CALL FOR PAPERS
The Workshop consists of oral presentations given by Hong Kong and Mainland student participants and other academic activities. English will be the official language for the entire event. Participants should submit an abstract of 200 words (Microsoft Office Word Version,including abstract’s title, authors’ names and their affiliations) to the Workshop Secretariat on or before March 10, 2020 via e-mail (fjun@ustc.edu.cn).
ABSTRACT PREPARATION
Please refer to the attached “Abstract Guidelines” for details.
SPONSORSHIP
Registered students who are absent from the Workshop without prior notice or reasonable grounds shall be required to repay the monetary amount incurred for the event, such as accommodation.
Highlights
In order to encourage high quality of presentation, the oral presentations given by students will be assessed by the Panel Chair. The assessment and comments will be channeled back to the research supervisor. The “Outstanding Presentation Award” will be introduced.

Remarks: #CityU and USTC plan to hold a faculty workshop on the afternoon of 7 May 2020. The workshop is expected to serve as a communication platform for faculty members to identify areas of common interest for research collaboration and explore possibilities of PhD co-supervision. (Details will be announced in due time)

REMARKS
Whether the student’s participation of this workshop could be counted as part of his/her coursework and the credit unit of this Workshop shall be determined by the department in which the student is registered.
