15th USTC–CityU PhD Student Workshop 2022 (Online)

FIRST ANNOUNCEMENT and CALL FOR PAPERS
Organized by: Chow Yei Ching School of Graduate Studies (SGS), City University of Hong Kong.
INTRODUCTION
The 15th PhD Student Workshop 2022 (Online) [第十五届博士生学术论坛(在线)] will be organized from 23 to 24 November 2022. It aims to provide a platform for Hong Kong and Mainland students of project teams under the Mainland Collaboration Schemes to meet and discuss their research findings and the latest advancements in their own disciplines. The Workshop also aims to advance the participants’ understanding of important issues and frontier research in their own research areas.
KEY AREAS
The Workshop will primarily focus on the following 13 key areas:
1. Accountancy, Economics and Finance 2. Applied Mathematics 3. Business and Management (Big Data, Knowledge and Innovation, and Healthcare) 4. Chinese, Comparative and Commercial Law 5. Computer Science 6. Electronic Engineering 7. Environmental Science, Energy and Built Environment | 8. Global China Studies (Business, Language, Law, Society) 9. Language, Communication and Creative Media 10. Life Sciences (Biomedical Science, Molecular Science) and Biomedical Engineering 11. Materials Science and Applied Physics 12. Mechanical Engineering and Sustainable Manufacturing 13. Policy and Administration |
REGISTRATION
Interested students should complete the attached Registration Form and return them to the Workshop Secretariat on or before 31 August 2022 for registration via e-mail (sgworkshop@cityu.edu.hk).
WORKSHOP FORMAT AND CALL FOR PAPERS
The Workshop will consist of oral presentations given by Hong Kong and Mainland student participants and other academic activities. English will be the official language for the entire event. Participants should submit an abstract of about 200 words (including abstract’s title, authors’ names and their affiliations) to the Workshop Secretariat on or before 30 September 2022 via e-mail (sgworkshop@cityu.edu.hk).
The event will be held online via TENCENT/VOOV meeting due to pandemic situation.
ELIGIBILITY
v Students under all CityU’s Mainland Collaboration Schemes
v PhD students of CityU and USTC who are not under the Mainland Collaboration Schemes
Highlights
In order to encourage high quality of presentation, the oral presentations given by students will be assessed by the Panel Chair. The assessment and comments will be channeled back to the CityU research supervisor. The “Outstanding Presentation Award” will be introduced.

REMARKS
Whether the student’s participation of this workshop could be counted as part of his/her coursework and the credit unit of this Workshop shall be determined by the department in which the student is registered.
